We’ve been gone for a long time yes, living in different cities, doing different things, you know, it’s not easy keeping this blog running that way. But don’t worry, we’re still best friends and are still working together! This week we made a music video for Sold His Soul! We went to ‘Doel’ which is a very interesting village. Because they wanted to expand the port of Antwerp in the sixties, the villagers were forced to leave. However, the village is still there, or well… half there. Windows smashed in, furniture lying around, graffiti everywhere, and here and there some residents who refuse to leave until they absolutely have to. It’s like a little ghost town, and it’s so strange to imagine there are people who’s family has lived there for generations… Anyway, nowadays artists go there all the time, because it’s so inspiring. And we thought this abandoned gas station was the perfect location for our video! Do you like it?
Enjoy! And if you like the video, make sure to like it on youtube, it means a lot!
Lots of love from your seemingly gone but not really gone number one favourite band xx
Since we’re being such goodie-goodies and we’re studying very hard for our exams right now, we don’t have time to take any pictures for our blog. But, fortunately we still have some pictures, which were too lazy to upload before, so now that laziness pays off (love it when that happens)! These pictures were taken at the Sinology Oscars. Every year the students who are in their second year of sinology have to make a Chinese movie. Afterwards the school organizes a kind of ‘Sinology Oscars’ where the movies are shown and everybody has to vote. There are ambassadors and people from the Chinese radio and everything. It’s really fun! Last year we won all the prizes, yay for us! You can check out our speech HERE and watch our movie HERE (or with Dutch subtitles HERE). If you want to watch the two of us cursing at each other in Chinese, skip to the scene which starts at 15:22. And we sing a song in the end, haha! If you don’t speak Chinese, nor Dutch, just watch the trailers below!
We had such a good time shooting that movie, if we’d have less homework we’d make another one! This year our dear Friend Laura and her friends had to make a movie and they also won a prize, yay for them!
Here are some pictures of us at this year’s oscars. As usual, Jade couldn’t help herself from dancing acting a little silly. Check out the pretty orchid in her hair though, it’s cute! We also had some group pictures taken. ^^
Last year, we also had a picture taken for our movie, check it out! (Photographer: Wim Knapen)
Ho ho ho!
Since the holiday season is upon us we decided to dress all fancy for this post! We divided the post into two sides: the good girl side and the bad girl side. Not that difficult to figure out which is which eh? We used this photo to enter a competition @Chictopia, please oh please vote for us HERE! We also wanted to make a Christmas song! Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time to make our own version so we had to download a karaoke version and sing to it. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the only version we could find was this awful one, which forced us to either sing too high or too low. We thought it sounded so bad, we kept laughing while recording it. After a while we made the camera blurry, so we wouldn’t really see ourselves being stupid anymore, which actually helped. So… Well.. Basically it sucks! But still we posted it, because it’s funny and we just had to post a Christmas song. Maybe after the exams, in february, we’ll post a better version. Or maybe next year? =) Scroll all the way down to check it out! It’s really cozy here in Leuven by the way! Every street is decorated with little lights.. Jade and her boyfriend went out to get some beignets (which in English is a fritter, no?) and they were delicious! There is also a beautiful carrousel near the Town Hall which you can see below!
Happy holidays everyone!!
Kisses, Tall & tiny
ps: if you want to make our 8th day of Christmas wish come true, donate here! (and feel free to send us those Converse shoes as well)
We went to the library again and -just like perfect students should- worked really hard! After that, we decided to take a look around because (as we’ve said before) that building is really pretty! There is art, there are huge old staircases, big statues… So we decided to do a little photo shoot there! The Buddha statue reminded Jade of the song ‘I love buddha’ which is so lovely… Listen to it below, while watching the pictures. =)
Tomorrow is another theme day!! xxxx T&t
Ps: don’t forget to check out our new song! Listen to it below!
Yesterday one of our friends turned 20 and we went to her birthday party. It was really fun! Before going to the party we let our friend Lai Yan braid our hair (she’s so darn good at it!). Then, at the party, we played some games together which was a lot of fun. We played a game called ‘werewolves’ where someone secretly gets picked as the werewolf and kills someone (this is obviously all fictitious), and then everyone has to have a discussion about who in the group could have been the werewolf. Tall and tiny weren’t playing as a team, because we kept blaming each other! It’s a compliment really, we just consider each other good actresses. However, in the end, we were both innocent! Silly.. Jade also baked a pie which was delicious! Mmm chocolatey goodness!
We also recorded a happy birthday message for the birthday girl in between two classes. In Chinese, it’s: “祝你生日快乐” which you pronounce as “Zhù nǐ shēngrì kuàilè” You see, no matter how different cultures are, almost everyone knows this song. ; )
Last but not least, we had a ‘knitting get together’ with our friends a while ago and forgot to mention it and post pictures! It was actually a surprise birthday party for another friend of ours (a lot of birthdays nowadays!). We cooked dinner together, ate cake pops (yum), ate cake (there was a lot of food, you see) and knitted together. It was super cozy! We added the pictures from that day below as well. ; )
Love, Tall and tiny
ps: a new song is in the making and we have a special guest in this one! xx
One of our last posts was called ‘our way’, referring to the way we write our songs. A friend of ours commented on our facebook page, saying: “I would have at least expected a link to you two singing ‘My Way’ with this.” And loyal to our fans as we are, we recorded that for him today. ; ) So there you go!
Hello to all!
Today’s Chinese class was about the equality between men and woman. We had to debate about this (in Chinese, that is) and came to the conclusion that women are still not entirely equal to men in our society. The question then is: Will they ever be? Well, we know one thing for sure: We might all be treated as equals someday, but we are all very different. = ) That’s a nice concept, isn’t it? All treating each other as equals yet all being entirely different from each other and unique. Well, the two of us are clearly girls. Although.. Maybe if we were boys we’d also parade around in pink outfits.. Can’t imagine dressing normally..
We still have a lot of homework to do so we have to make this a quick post! But before we finish this post, we have to mention that Jade is thinking of buying a melodica! It’s a simple instrument, but it has such a magical sound.. scroll down to listen to Gorillaz’ live performance of ‘Tomorrow comes today’ in which Damon Albarn plays the melodica (the part at 1:17 is amazing, and the 2:19 outro wow!). Maybe it will be used in one of our next songs?
