Art for Education

Hi everyone!

Sorry for not posting any sooner but we’ve been pretty busy.. Last weekend we entered a competition called ‘Art for Education’ (HERE is their facebook page). The concept basically comes down to this: there is an organization called ‘Art for Nepal’ and they organize fundraisers now and then to try and help children in Nepal to get the education they deserve. This time, they turned it into a little competition where the bands have to perform in a preliminary round before going to the finals. Jade heard about the organization from a friend and we decided to enter the competition. That way we could earn some on-stage experience as well as support a good cause! We wrote a song especially for the cause, which will be uploaded very very soon, so stay tuned! We hope it inspires people to help others out.We were selected for the finals, yippie! So on the 20th of April we will be playing there again. If you’re in the neighbourhood (by which we mean you’re either in Belgium or really close to it anyway) come join us there! It’s super cozy and they serve the best mint tea! Check out some pictures of us playing below, and stay in touch because we’ll upload the new song soon!

Lots of love,

Tall and tiny

ps: if you have a facebook account please vote for us HERE. Yes, we’re obsessed with entering competitions now, apparently.

The big golden 100

Hooray hooray! This is our 100th post!

On this joyful occasion we’d like to look back a little on the past year, and the past 99 posts. Last year we started our second year of sinology here at the Leuven University and we were feeling a little bored.. Studying has it’s own perks and all that, but our schedules were so fully stacked with homework and classes, that we had dropped all of our creative projects and hobbies. So about 12 months ago we decided to change that, and we formed our band: tall and tiny! We started off by going to a school classroom where we knew there was a piano. Elvi started playing a tune, and Jade improvised some lyrics on it. Afterwards, Jade finished off the lyrics at home and about a week later, Inside the Whale was born! Then came Somewhere silent and so on… In the meantime we also started taking pictures of our outfits and decided we should share them, and made this blog. Then we sort of ‘upgraded’ by changing from rehearsing in a classroom to rehearsing in a small -free of charge- studio, where we can enter with Elvi’s school-culture pass. We started copyrighting, uploading songs and videos.. And tah-daa! Now it’s about a year later and we have a nice 100 posts already! Now that the new school year has started again, we are working on new songs again and we can’t wait to start posting them and go towards the big 200! Also, from now on we will sort of duplicate our posts in Chinese below the English posts sometimes, to practice our Chinese skills! Last but not least, we want to thank everyone who reads our blog, because that’s what makes it all fun really. = ) We hope you like our pictures and music, and hope you will continue to read and listen to our stuff here!

Below are some of our favorite pictures so far, and our songs. We love you!!
To many more posts, pictures and songs! 干杯!

Inside the Whale

Hello everyone,

like we said before, this was our first song, so it’s about time we upload it! It kind of feels like being a mom bird letting her baby bird fly off alone for the first time, haha! Hopefully it will fly well =)

enjoy!
