How are you all doing? We have some pictures we forgot to upload! It’s us rehearsing for the Students on Stage concert. It was super cozy, and since the weather was so nice, we went outside and had a drink on the terrace afterwards. It truly was a lovely day!
For those who regularly read our blog, this is all very repetitive, but still, for those who don’t: a while ago we entered a competition called ‘Students On Stage’ which is organized by our university. We got into the semi-finals (yay for us!) and those were held yesterday! We had a blast! It was a super tiny stage (even though it was at held at a very popular location) but all three of us got on. “Three? My oh my, I though it was only two!” Nope! It is only two, but for one of our songs we hired a very dear friend of Jade to come help us out. He normally plays an entirely different kind of music, but he had a lot of fun doing this for a change. Check out his own band’s facebook HERE. Thank you Matthieu! We also have a new favorite prop called ‘Rocky Rawr’ which we taped onto the synthesizer (you can see him on the left). And of course we brought the usual amount of flowers, clocks, bird cages etc. It was very funny, since all the other bands that played were rock or metal bands, our poppy sound came as quite the surprise for the audience. Haha, maybe we should’ve taken pictures of their faces instead of our own, that would have made a good series of photos!
We didn’t get into the finals (check out who did HERE), but still, we had a good time! At the end of our performance, one of the people who worked there asked us if we wanted to play in their monthly open mic, because she liked our music. Guess when that open mic was? Also yesterday! So basically, we were there all day. Which means we’re very very tired now, so it’s time to get some sleep. =)
Scroll down to see some pictures! You can see the three of us on our tiny stage, and the last picture was taken during the open mic. Enjoy!
How are you all doing? We are super duper busy lately, because we have been selected for the semi-finals of Students on Stage! Seriously, what is up with us and competitions lately… We’ll be playing next wednesday, at 4 PM @HET DEPOT in Leuven. So anyone who is in the neighborhood: come watch us play! Here is the FB-link to the event: https://www.facebook.com/events/177109995779269/
The weather is going up and down here. Some days it’s super warm and then sometimes it’s like -BOOM- someone turned the sun off. Ah well, when the sun is out we can take lovely pictures like this one below! Check out how Jade’s outfit is all matchy matchy. Diadem, earrings, lipstick, (temp) tatto, dress, shoes… She almost never does that!
We wish you all a happy weekend!
A couple of weeks ago we entered a competition, organized by a charity called ‘Art For Education’ which tries to gather money to help Nepalese children go to school. We went to the finals, which were held today! We had a lot of fun! We played I like it (which you can listen to below), and two new songs which we wrote especially for the cause. One of the songs is about pollution and garbage, and the other one is basically a wake up call saying “Let’s make this world a better place!” We’ll upload them soon enough, hopefully = )
We had some nice pictures taken during our performance, which you can check out below. Oh, and before we forget! To everyone in Belgium (and maybe even the Netherlands?): the 1st of May, we are playing in the semi-finals of ‘Students on Stage’ and you should all come, because the audience decides who goes to the finals! Bring everyone you know! More info HERE!
Lots of love,
Tall and tiny
Sorry for not posting any sooner but we’ve been pretty busy.. Last weekend we entered a competition called ‘Art for Education’ (HERE is their facebook page). The concept basically comes down to this: there is an organization called ‘Art for Nepal’ and they organize fundraisers now and then to try and help children in Nepal to get the education they deserve. This time, they turned it into a little competition where the bands have to perform in a preliminary round before going to the finals. Jade heard about the organization from a friend and we decided to enter the competition. That way we could earn some on-stage experience as well as support a good cause! We wrote a song especially for the cause, which will be uploaded very very soon, so stay tuned! We hope it inspires people to help others out.We were selected for the finals, yippie! So on the 20th of April we will be playing there again. If you’re in the neighbourhood (by which we mean you’re either in Belgium or really close to it anyway) come join us there! It’s super cozy and they serve the best mint tea! Check out some pictures of us playing below, and stay in touch because we’ll upload the new song soon!
Lots of love,
Tall and tiny
ps: if you have a facebook account please vote for us HERE. Yes, we’re obsessed with entering competitions now, apparently.
You can relax, Jade is still alive! Close call though. She had to wear quite some layers though, she looked so funny. Almost like some kind of time traveler who has come from a time where there is/was no snow. Check out a close-up of her face below, and see for yourself how wrapped up she is. ^^ Elvi wore her super Uggs to keep her warm, they sure look comfy… But seriously, it was not just snowing this morning, but the wind was also blowing so super hard that you really couldn’t see a thing. The most shocking thing about this weather is, that exactly a week ago from today, it was super sunny. In 7 days we went from 20° to -11° (68 to 12 in Fahrenheit)! To show you guys the extreme difference, scroll down and compare today’s picture with last Tuesday’s picture.
Anyway, we’re super busy with school because we have tons of homework this week. Tomorrow we have to perform a 30 minute long play in Chinese and we don’t even know our lines yet… Also, this weekend we are performing at Art For Education and we still have a lot of rehearsing to do! And last but not least, we have to translate a Chinese song by next Tuesday, and of course want to make our own version of it, but that costs time and we don’t have time! … Maybe time traveling isn’t such a bad idea?

And since for some mysterious reason our song’s volume is super low on that website, you can always listen to it once more below!
Unfortunately we are both very busy… Elvi studying, Jade working. But we are so full of inspiration, and have so many idea’s in mind! We’re writing it all down and keep recording demo’s so these idea’s won’t be forgotten! Yesterday for instance, a new idea for an intro for our album was created. We can’t wait to record that one for real! Later on today, or tomorrow, we will be uploading another song, which was actually our very first song. It sort of feels like THE tall and tiny song because of that. =) So it’s about time we upload it, isn’t it? Our album almost has enough songs to be complete and it already has a title, which for now, remains a secret. So tic tock, we’ll just have to wait until we have the time to finish it! And also tic tock, because on monday we’ll find out if we won the competition or not, exiting!
PS: don’t forget to listen to I LIKE IT and FLIP FLOP:
Hello to all!
We entered a competition with one of our songs! The song is called ‘I like it’ and was made just as wildly as it sounds. Chaotic improv and a lot of fun led us to this, and to be fair and honest.. we like it, uhuh!
Let us know what you think of it, and please vote really quickly, as voting ends tonight! It’s not that the votes decide who wins, because a jury decides, but the more votes, the better the impression we make!
